More years than I can remember, I lived in Langley Ave. which is just off Risedale Road/Hill. I shall be visiting Hemel in about 3 weeks time and would like to catch up with some of my old friends - in no particular order, Bob McMinn (connections with a hardware shop in Chesham), Peter Furness, Trevor Spears, Robbie Weller, Pam Summers/Cox, Gerald/Ken Booth, Basil and Thelma Stone, Philip Garment, Billy Goss. They lived variously in Langley Ave., Sunrise Cres., Pamela Ave.,(?) and Risedale Road. I would also like to contact Mary and Brenda North of Belmont Ave. and Richard Cowley of Langley Ave. Any assistance will be much appreciated. This is going back some 50 years but if anyone can direct me to any of these people I shall be most grateful.

I have not seen him since he moved back to England in 1987. If you know him or of him, would you please pass along my email address so that he can contact me? I will be in England in several weeks and would love to see him.

I have been lucky enough over the last few years to become aquainted, with one of Hemel Hempstead's most colourful characters Gary Emmins. Known to most of you through his involvement with a variety of eighties bands who were on the pub circuit in your area at that time, and I believe he also had a bit of success with a record called 'Rebecca' too. Gary has been tucked away with his lovely family in the wilds of west Wales, teaching some of us how to make video's at Aberystwyth university. However, you lucky people have him back in your midst and by way of appreciation for the time he gave to us, I thought I'd try and give something back. Gary is still a dedicated musician, and I reckon that anyone out there who fancies a bit of a jamming session with their old mucker would be met with enthusiasm, in fact why doesn't somebody out there take up the initiative and invite him and his old band to do a bit of a benefit gig for the victims of the terrible explosion you had there last year, I know for a fact that Gary would be up for it.

I lived in Hemel from Oct. 2003 to the end of Nov. 2004 and loved it. I am a US woman who married a man from Hemel. I lived in the Chaulden area on The Coltsfoot street. I thought it was a lovely place, I miss it very much. I am now in the Chicago area and I hope to get back this year or next for a visit. Does anyone know if a woman named Debbie still might be living on The Coltsfoot? She was a lovely neighbor to me and I don't know if she still lives there.

What has happened to the copy of Rodin's Burger of Calais that stood on the moor outside the Kodak building? This was placed there when the site was developed by Kodak and my recollection is that it was a gift to the people of Hemel Hempstead in compensation for the loss of that part of the moor.

It has been a very traumatic time for Hemel Hempstead over the last few weeks due to the Buncefield Oil fire, but the the people living here have shown themselves, through the media, as being part of a close knit community, stoic and brave. Thanks to our heroic firefighters, the dense black plume of smoke that hung over Hemel Hempstead and surrounding areas has gone, and we can all breath clean air again. Heart felt sympathies go out to all the people that were injured, and those that had properties and businesses damaged. We'd also like to thank everyone who sent us messages over the last year, and wish all our readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2006.
hemelweb - 24 December 2005

The great fire of Hemel 2005... that could be something talked about for years, but now the talk is about rebuilding. Should Buncefield be rebuilt? could the great fire happen again? why aren't these tanks underground or more to the point what else is in Hemel that no one knows about? I dont want Buncefield built again, not on my doorstep. maybe it could be built at sea on stilts. Why Hemel??

Free advice for small business's affected by the explosion at the oil storage depot. This information pertains to data recovery from computer systems damaged by explosion. Do not try to start up your computer. If the hard disk is damaged turning it on will damage it further. If your computer was active at the time of the blast the chances of part of the hard disk being damaged are high. If that is the case have the disk removed and sent to professional data recovery. If the pc was idle the head will be parked and the chances are the disk can be transferred to an other pc and safely started.

It was called HEARSAY. The owner was a geezer named Tony. I do once remember that the shop underwent a re-fit, and it was announced that Linda Lewis would re-open it. On the day of the re-opening, quite a crowd had gathered, but Linda Lewis didn't show. Instead it was Tony in drag, made up as Linda Lewis, with a huge Afro wig. He cycled up to the shop and performed the opening ceremony. It was dissapointing but mildly funny.

Re. Eamon Percival. I remember Eamon very well, he played in a band called Trigger and used to tussle my curly hair when I went to see them play. The lead singer was Del Stevens who was my step dad. My mum Margo was very fond of Eamon and sadly she decided to join both Eamon and Del in 2005. I hope very much that all the kind words and wonderful memories people have of Eamon have helped keep him very much alive in your hearts.

Postmodern music is a Hemel based company dedicated to putting on the best local music. the Hemel site is based on Rock and underground dance music. Jellyfish concentrates on local Rock bands who have the talent and desire to perform in front of a mature crowd. For all of those intersted in seeing the best live bands in Hertfordshire, check out up and coming bands such as The Raid, aboycalledhero, and Zoot Suit. The other section of the website Nocturnal focuses on dance music. This is not the commercial rubbish you hear everyday but underground genres such as Drum n Bass,Trance and Funky House.
