What a great page, so good looking at how Hemel looks now. I left Hemel about 19 years ago to come to Australia. I went to Chauldon Infant & Primary School then to JFK from 78-82. Would love to hear from old pals from either schools. Also I would love to catch up with an old flame of mine called Richard Deveroux (not sure of spelling), he lived in Grove Hill and used to hang out with a guy called Plank. Really miss all the good times I had in Hemel and will always call it home. Will be back there soon 2002 and would love to catch up with anyone that remembers me.

As someone who spent all of her younger life in Gadebridge Hemel Hempstead, (I went to Gade valley then Halsey School, married in St Mary's) I was amazed to see how much it has changed. I left Hemel to live in Berko when I married and then in 1985 moved to Milton Keynes. I was looking at the entertainment in Hemel as research for one of the website we run:- http://www.musicians-web.co.uk Worth a visit if you are a muso. See Mr Fryer music GCE was not totally wasted. If anyone from Hemel remembers me Carole Munro (Gage as was) please get in touch.

Bennetts Enders! Anyone remember "The Green" in Flatfield Road? I know this is going back 45 years, but, ever the optomist, here I go. Lesley & brother Peter Scarmen, Jonathon & Joanne Weymann, Denise & Valerie Long, Freddie & Marilyn Gore, Pat & Linda Sage, Richard Hampson, Nigel Kidd, Karen Sorflaten, Sid Bloom, Susan Driver, John Sloane, Jeffery & Janet Baker, Colin & Sandra (No.4), Patsy & Mike Muddimer, David Durrant, Diane Cowie. Do any of you remember Bunny, brother Clive and little sister Brenda? Mine was a wonderful childhood (you can probably tell that by my memory of you all), and I've often thought of our growing up on "the green", "the spinney" and "the dips". If anyone can, please get in touch.

I attended the UNDER THE SAME SUN peace rally last week in Gadebridge Park and was pleased to see so many people of differing religions and political persuasions all together, showing that they want to live in peace locally, no matter what happens in the world after September 11th. Social gatherings where we can have a good time, seems an excellent way to break down the barriers of religion and politics. I know it's going to be a difficult road ahead but we owe it to future generations to at least try. Anyone out there who wants to talk - e-mail me or call 01442 405796.

My name was Louise Childs now Massetti (used to hang out with Nadine Vigor) and I wish to contact my school friends from Highfield School, Fletcher Way. Our form was RW 1st to 5th years. My maths was terrible but maybe my memory is better, I think 79 -1984. Anyway, would love to hear from people at the school, not just our form, anyone from that year. Terry Potten, Kevin Bateman, Bernard Webb, Sally Herbert, Keith Herring, Lisa Thomas, Darren Burgin, Paul and his twin and the other twins, very tall lads one used to hang out with Martin Phillips, my memory isn't that good sorry..... anyone really who was in that year. I am trying to put together an evening for a reunion. Thought it would be nice to chat and see what we have all been doing for the last 20 years or so. If you are interested please can you e-mail me. If you think it would be a naff idea e-mail me anyway, and I would personally like to hear how you are getting on with this thing called "life".

My name is Carol Adkinson (nee Ward). I started at Apsley Grammar School (as was) in the third form, when we moved from Wales, and left in 1961. I worked in Lloyds Bank when I left school, going on to work for Access Equipment, Honeywell Controls, and the Comm. for New Towns - not necessarily in that order! I would love to hear from any others who may remember me, either from school or work. My sister Linda Ward (now Linda Stone) also went to Apsley Grammar, but she still lives in Bennetts End, just across the road from where we lived when we were at school. So - all of you who were at Apsley GS when I was there, or worked with me at any time, break into print - I'd love to catch up with what people are doing now, and where they live. I am in the wilds of Suffolk, after moving about quite a bit with my husband's job, so it would be interesting to find out how life has fared for others.

Firstly a quick update to let readers know my "little" Westwick JMI School web site grows bigger everyday. We now have 79 members over 450 messages and 12 photos! Also Phil Dunsford (the first ever headmaster) has put the wheels in motion for a massive reunion party in about a year's time to celebrate the school's 40th anniversary. People will hopefully be coming from every age group and from all over the world. Last but not least if you are a former pupil teacher or friend of Westwick School you can visit my site at http://communities.msn.co.uk/WestwickJMISchool.

We played the Bennetts End team on the 1.9.1963 at Hemel Town Ground, Crabtree Lane. The Bennetts Team was Edwards, Howes, Walsh, Johnson (Capt.), Hillier, Griffiths, Smith, Wallace, Ginger, Roe, Willis. Who can help me to get in contact with one of the players?

I check this page weekly for more news of people from the past. It has helped us contact many of our old friends. Thanks for that. I would like to repeat, that if you were a Rocker or Ted or Greaser (Biker) during the 50s 60s 70s and used to frequent the 16/21 Club in Marlowes, then check out our site. Even if you did not, check us out anyway. Bikers, even in the middle age group are still rocking on. Come and see. The site address is now http://www.s.r.harding.btinternet.co.uk/

Found this site by mistake, and after several blinks it appears to be real. So maybe I can repair a few collapsed bridges. Anyone who was in the 6th form at Adeyfield around '93, get in touch. I'll get the ouija board out. We can pretend like the intervening years never happened.

Hello, I lived in Hemel Hempstead until 1992 when I moved to Dunstable. I am still connected to Hemel Hempstead, as I am secretary of the Combined Ex Service Association and also secretary of the Bedfs/Herts Regt. I attended the (prison on the hill) Corner Hall School during the war years at primary school and the secondary school until 1950. I class myself as a Hempsteadian, Hempstead being the term used pre New Town. I would like to know if there are any slver surfers who want to talk about old times. Churchill pool, the Guildhouse etc.

My message about David Coleman was a success so I'm hoping lightning might strike twice! In short, if anyone knows the whereabouts of Ronnie Teale who lived at 128 Gadebridge Road in the 70s/early 80s and went to Cavendish, could they either let me know or pass the message on to him that his two old mates, Neil and Jim, would love to hear from him again.

I posted an email on the message page a few months ago. I was looking for 2 old friends. One was Debbie Belcher, she used to live on South Hill Road in Hemel, she went to Cavendish school between 1975 and 1980. She worked at Leavesden Hospital. The last I heard, she was married with 3 children and living in Dunstable. She has 2 older sisters, Verity and Varina, and two older brothers, Mark and Gary. Her mum and Dad are Mavis and Percy or John.( I am not sure about her dads name). Thanks to Phil South, I made contact with my other old friend. I hope someone will recognise the family and I will be reunited with my old mate "Belch". Fingers crossed.

I know I've said this before but I've found almost everyone else I was looking for except our Aussie chum Samantha Wright. She moved from Hemel back to Australia, I think Melbourne, in about 1990 or thereabouts. When she lived in Hemel it was Gadbridge. She was with us in almost all our productions at the Art Centre, Boxmoor and we'd love to get back in touch. Oh, and while we're on the subject of the Arts Centre, Boxmoor, anybody remember our productions of Casablanca, Rocky Horror Show and Maxine? Anyone know people who were IN those productions? Please get in touch. Thanks again!

DON'T BE CONFUSED by the notice about the Hemel Hempstead School 70th birthday party on Friday, 12th October. It is nothing to do with the Grand Reunion of ex-pupils taking place on Saturday, 13th October. Our reunion is for you oldies who were at the Grammar School from it's inception in 1931 until the early 50's. The only dancing will be if someone treads on your gout-ridden foot! But there will be lots of reminiscing which we'll all be good at. See you on Saturday 13th October at 7.30pm.

There is a growing collection over at http://www.friendsreunited.co.uk/ and it would be great to organise a little get together sometime. Even if you're only slightly interested, contact me, believe me, it is so much fun going back over our school years.......

I have recently found this website and it looks good. I was at Hemel Hempstead Grammar School 1948 to 1953. I found the other day a class photo taken just before we all went our seperate ways. It must have been July 1953. It was class 5h with Mr.M.C.Attwood as form teacher. Everybody has signed the photo. I wonder if any of you on the photo are still around out there.

Hemel Hempstead, the land of my "Wasted" yoof. If you remember The White Hart, Fractured Nerve, NerveX, Filth, and all those other melodic combos of the past then you possibly remember me..or maybe not. I am currently teaching at University on the West Coast....er of Wales, and would love to swap stories and memories from anyone who was there and who knew me (or my brother Mark)...and perhaps fill in some gaps. I have still kept my ear rings but no longer have the bleached white streak in my hair (it's now a shocking, glowing bright red...honest) Thanx Hemel it was great.

Hi, although I wasn't born in Hemel I've lived here since 1964, with a 5-year break in exotic Watford. I went to Westwick, Hammond, Nash Mills, Mountbatten and Dacorum College. I work for an American Company in the Industrial Estate and have been married for 19 years to Iain. My maiden name is Easton and would love to hear from anyone who remembers me (especially Nick Cooksey).

My name is Judy Stone and I would love to hear from anybody who started at Hemel Hempstead Grammar School in September 1958. I have the school photo from May 1959, with me as a tiny first year in the front row. I also have a photo of the staff production of "Arsenic and Old Lace" and would like to be able to put names to the "actors". I remember Mr & Mrs Johns, Mr Cox the art teacher and Mr Evans who taught German. I have very happy memories of my time at Hemel, but unfortunately I had to leave during the 3rd year (3L) as we moved house. It would also be nice to hear from anybody who was at Bovingdon Primary School and left in 1958.

Re: Eamonnn Percival's tribute night - I can confirm that this is no longer to be held at Snooks but at Hemel Hempstead Football Club, Vauxhall Road, Adeyfield, courtesy of Mr Dave Boggins (thanks Dave). Also, it won't be Noble Ox, but Jimmy Joyce's new band, Framed. So the final line up will be Framed, The Wright Brothers Band, The Blues Blah Brothers and a special all-star jam band featuring some of the great musicians from the Hemel area. It should be a fun night, so come along and support a great fundraising event - Thursday 13 September, Hemel FC.
Gordon Blackwell - 4 September 2001
You can email Gordon at gordon.blackwell@reputationmanagers.co.uk

Could I confirm on behalf of Mick Groom that Eamonn's tribute evening is at Hemel Hempstead Football Club on Thursday the 13th Sept. Apparently new fire regulations would have restricted the attendance at Snooks to 150, whereas HHFC can hold 350. It's all for a good cause.
Robbie Reid - 4 September 2001
You can email Robbie at Robert.Reid2@tesco.net

Eamonn's rememberance night. The whole point of the evening is to remember Eamonn (who could forget him?) but also to raise money for the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home nurses who cared for him so devotedly at the end of his life. Whether or not you knew Eamonn, please support the evening on 13 September - Iain Rennie Nurses need our support for all those with terminal illnesses.
Julie Farrington (nee Percival) - 4 September 2001

Can anyone suggest a website that gives history of businesses in the Hemel area. I am trying to find a distant family connection with a family surname DEAR. Edmund described as 'cowman'. Daughter Charlotte born 1879 . Her birth cert shows residence as 'Fishery' but that has been crossed out, 13 and next line 'Boxmoor'. Also, searching for information about Charles Chaplin Johnson who I understand was a shoemaker but left the area possibly around the time of the first world war. He was born about 1860 and may at some time been an alderman but this info has been passed down through word of mouth and do not know any other details. Also mentioned was Junction Road but this may have been some other area as the family also moved to Tottenham and other London districts I made a brief visit to Hemel bank holiday weekend but not long enough to explore and likely places to investigate myself, were closed.
